My Focus Word for 2021

Only new actions will bring different results.

My focus word for 2021 is EXECUTE.

This is the year I stop talking and put in the work.

This is the year I stop procrastinating.

This is the year I turn my dreams into reality.

Are you with me?

At the beginning of the year, I proclaimed that I am no longer playing with my potential. I’ve been dreaming and harboring great ideas for too long. Dreams are necessary but they’re not enough. Dreams don’t bring results! Dreams don’t create legacies! Execution does!

This year the 3 areas I am focusing on the most are:

  • Self-Care

  • Investing in myself

  • Networking

Here is how I will execute in each of these areas:

1.     Self-Care:

I’ve struggled with making self-care a priority in the past but now I’m committed to taking better care of myself. I’ve heard too many people complain of burnout and I don’t want to be one of them. If 2020 taught me anything, it taught me to slow down. I am choosing to take care of myself to improve productivity, reduce stress, boost creativity, prevent depression and improve my mood. Each month I make self-care a priority by choosing a self-care activity. Here are my self-care activities from the previous months:

  • January- Free write for 15 minutes

  • February- Get a pedicure/manicure

  • March- Take a bubble bath w/ candles, wine & music

  • April- Take a walk alone

2.     Investing in myself:

I am currently investing in my personal development. I am pouring into myself so that I can pour into others. A few ways I am investing into myself is by taking classes, taking care of my health, attending workshops, reading, journaling, and listening to podcasts. So far this year, I’ve taken an intensive writing class with Chantelle Adanna, an influencer masterclass with Mattie James and I plan to take another writing course with Alex Elle soon. I’ve been in a reading slump lately but I’m looking forward to my next read “Don’t Drop the Mic: The Power of Your Words Can Change the World” by T.D Jakes.

3.     Networking:

Building relationships is very important to me because together we can make a bigger impact in the world. This year I plan to connect and collaborate with more like-minded women by attending different seminars and workshops.

Last year I launched The LIT Queen Book club, and it was one of the best things I could’ve ever done because it has given me the opportunity to connect with some amazing women. It also made me realize that I am not alone. There are so many women in this world who are suffering in silence. I plan to continue to inspire and motivate women to reach their fullest potential and encourage them to speak out more.

Overall, the goal this year is to become a better version of myself each day.  I don’t want to be the same person I was a year ago. Cheers to growth!
