Summer Activities to Do with Kids
No school during the summer = family fun time!
Anyone else feel like you’re making up for lost time since summer was canceled last year? I am thrilled for our summer adventures this year!
Here are a few summer activities we have planned:
Drive-in Movie
This weekend we are heading to the Mendon Drive-In theater to see Space Jam: A New Legacy. I’m not sure who’s more excited; Ty and I or Aliyah. Space Jam is one of our childhood favorites but ever since we introduced it to Aliyah last year, she fell in love with it too. I’m excited for the movie but the number one thing I’m looking forward to is the FRIED DOUGH! It’s one of my guilty pleasures. If you’re contemplating taking your children to a drive-in movie, I do recommend starting when they’re 4-5. We took Aliyah for the first-time last year when she was 5 and she did amazing! I can’t wait to fill our bags with dinner, snacks and blankets and watch Space Jam under the stars.
Boston Children’s Museum
Last Sunday Ty, Aliyah, my nephew and I visited the Boston Children’s Museum, and the kids had a blast. We were there for about two hours which was the perfect amount of time to explore the entire museum. The exhibits at the museum focused on science, culture, environmental awareness, health + fitness and the arts. Some of the children’s favorite exhibits were the New Balance Foundation Climb, Arthur and Friends, Construction Zone, Raceways, and Kid Power. You should check out a museum in your town this summer. Most museums are perfect for all ages!
Trip to Florida
Next month we’ll be traveling to Florida for a few days. Our goal is to take 2-3 family trips each year and we’re right on track. So far, we have planned a beach day, a trip to the zoo, kayaking, and a bunch of fancy dinners. I can’t wait to soak up the sun!
Hiking at The Blue Hills
We’ve been hiking twice this summer and we plan to go twice a month at minimum. If you’re thinking about going, try to get there as early as possible to beat the sun and the crowd. Now that Aliyah is getting older, she is enjoying hiking more and more. Family hikes are the perfect workouts and adventures for everyone!
Picnic
We’re looking forward to packing our lunch and spending a beautiful day in the park. A few picnic spots in Boston are:
The Boston Commons
Arnold Arboretum
Castle Island
Here are a few other summer activities to do with kids:
New England Aquarium
Swan Boat Ride
Boston Museum of Science
Legoland Discovery Center
Trip to the Library/ Bookstore
Believe it or not, there are only 70 days left of summer!!!
