Why I Started My Business: Empower Her Story

Last weekend, not only did I celebrate my 31st birthday, I also celebrated 2 years of my business, Empower Her Story. Empower Her Story is an empowerment organization that helps ambitious women gain clarity, overcome limiting beliefs and take specific action to achieve their goals.

Our mission is to help women navigate their self care and personal development journey so that they can create the lives they desire full of freedom, fulfillment, and joy.

We offer workshops, retreats, coaching programs and wellness products that teach women how to put themselves first, build their confidence, and turn their dreams into reality.

why I started empower her story…

Someone once told me, “Tell your story. It will heal you and help others,” but I was too afraid. I didn't understand how sharing my story could help someone else until I started my blog.

The amount of love and gratitude I’ve received so far is heartwarming. Running a business is hard work but the kind messages like these remind me why I started in the first place: to make women feel seen, heard, and celebrated.

Here's a few more reasons why I started Empower Her Story:

I started Empower Her Story because I got tired of seeing black women struggle in silence, including myself. As long as I could remember, I watched my mother shrink herself and suppress her needs; and when I became a mother I did the same thing.

I started Empower Her Story because I wanted to take my voice and my power back. For the majority of my life, I felt silenced. In my household, we were raised to bottle up our emotions and to believe that we shouldn't need to seek help outside of our family.

I started Empower Her Story to break generational cycles and show young girls that their words, their voices, and their lives matter.

I started Empower Her Story to empower women to embrace their individuality and show up as themselves unapologetically.

I started Empower Her Story to teach women how to put themselves first, love themselves better, and practice self care consistently.

I started Empower Her Story to end the “strong black woman” narrative. I decided that the fear, the shame, and the guilt of speaking our truth ends with me. I don’t ever want my daughter to struggle in silence the way my grandmother, my mother and I did.

I started Empower Her Story to help women use their authentic voice on and off the page. As a teenager I didn't feel comfortable being vulnerable with anyone but journaling saved my life.

I started Empower Her Story to help women turn their dreams into reality and succeed on their own terms.

I started Empower Her Story to amplify the voices of Black women. We deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated in safe spaces.

I started Empower Her Story to remind you that you're not alone. There is a woman out there who has survived everything you're dealing with. I hope her story sets you free.

It makes my soul smile seeing the positive impact I'm making in the world with my words.

I truly believe we are here to serve and make the world a better place for future generations. If you're reading this, I want you to do one thing. Be the person you needed when you were growing up.

I’m so excited to watch Empower Her Story grow this year and I hope you are too! We are rediscovering ourselves, reclaiming our joy and rewriting our stories, ONE PAGE AT A TIME!
