Why Traveling Solo Was the Best Decision I Ever Made

Solo Trips

Four years ago, I did something different. I did something bold. I traveled out of state by myself for the first time to attend a conference led by motivational speaker Eric Thomas (ET). I never intended to travel alone but I didn’t have anyone to accompany me. Looking back, I’m glad no one was able to go because I needed to take that trip alone. I needed to learn how to thrive without other people. I spent so much time pleasing others that I forgot how to please myself. I forgot what made me happy. In 2017, (two years after I became a mother) I reached my breaking point and traveling alone saved me. It was the beginning of a self-love, self-healing, and self-discovery journey that I never knew I needed. I am the woman I am today because I decided to step out of my comfort zone.

Here is my solo trip journey:

2017 I traveled to Los Angeles, California

2018 I traveled to Baltimore, Maryland

2019 I traveled to Denver, Colorado

2020 the pandemic wouldn’t let me be great

2021 I traveled to Nashville, Tennessee

These 4 solo trips have one thing in common. They’ve all contributed to my personal growth. My trip to LA taught me to be fearless. My trip to Baltimore taught me to master my craft. My trip to Denver taught me to walk in my purpose. My trip to Nashville taught me to build and nurture relationships.

Although I loved all these trips, my favorite one was traveling to Denver, CO. I exercised at the Red Rocks, enjoyed a paint and sip event, and attended the Woman Evolve conference led by Sarah Jakes Roberts. If you know me, you know I love Sarah! That’s my girl! Being in the room with her was beyond powerful!!! The conference gave me the opportunity to be surrounded by more than 1,000 purpose filled women who taught me the importance of sisterhood, vulnerability, and transparency. I can’t wait to go back!

If you are contemplating traveling alone, I’m here to tell you to take that trip Sis!!! Your future self will thank you. Traveling solo will give you clarity, boost your confidence, give you a chance to reflect & reset, and help you step out of your comfort zone. People may not understand why you’re doing it but it’s not their responsibility to. Personal growth is PERSONAL. Everybody can’t come!!!

Have you travelled alone before? Where did you go? If not, where is one place you would travel ?

Don’t forget to like, comment, and share with someone you know. It is greatly appreciated!
