Tips to Help You Prepare for the New Month

See this content in the original post

I love the first of the month because I love new beginnings! It’s a new opportunity for us to grow and glow. I’m excited for November because this month I am committed to getting organized. This month I’m focused on working smarter (not harder) and creating systems in my personal life and business. Last month I felt so overwhelmed and disorganized, but I refuse to feel that way again.

Here are some tips to help you prepare for the new month:

1.     Reflect & Reset

Get your journal out and start reflecting on the prior month. Reflection can help us release, refocus, and realign. It's also a great opportunity for us to learn more about ourselves. You can’t move forward unless you know what’s holding you back.

Try answering these questions below:

 2.     Brain Dump

It’s time to get those great ideas down on paper. I love brain dumping! It feels so good to clear my mind and close all the open tabs in my head.

Here are some brain dump ideas:

  • Things you've been worried about

  • Things you keep forgetting

  • Things you need to get done

  • Things you didn’t have time to do

  • Goals you want to accomplish

  • Events/activities for yourself or your children

  • Project ideas

  • Parts of your routine you want to improve

  • Vacation/party planning

  • Doctor appointments

LITERALLY ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF!

3.     Give yourself enough time to plan

Keep in mind that thorough planning takes time. If you have a business, I recommend dedicating at least 1-2 hours to planning. Also, try planning before the new month starts to avoid feeling behind. As of now, my new monthly planning date is the last Saturday of the month but I’m considering it being the 2nd to last Saturday of the month.

4.     Schedule time for Self-Care

Rest is not a reward. It is a priority. Your body and your mind need time to rejuvenate. Every month I schedule a self-care activity that fosters my mental, emotional, and/or physical health. It’s so important for me to take care of myself and embrace my individuality.

A few more reasons why you should rest are:

  • To improve productivity

  • To reduce stress

  • To boost creativity

  • To prevent depression/anxiety

  • To improve your mood

If you haven’t started planning for the month, I highly recommend that you do!
