Laid Off During a Pandemic

One year ago today, I was laid off from my job and it was one of the best things that could’ve happened to me. I lost my job, but I gained guidance. I lost my job, but I gained clarity. I lost my job, but I gained time.

From the moment I was told I was being let go, I was content. I didn’t know what, where, when, or how the blessing was going to reach me, but I knew it was coming. I believe there’s something good in every bad situation. Sometimes you must look a little harder to find it. It may be the literary side of me, but I view my life as a book. Each chapter serves a purpose and then it must come to an end.

Things fall apart so that better things can fall together. And that’s exactly what happened. Getting laid off gave me the opportunity to create my blog, help my daughter transition into remote learning, spend more time with my family and spend more time with myself. Getting laid off pushed me to pursue my own passions.

I would not be speaking to you right now if I didn’t get laid off from my job. I was too comfortable in my position. I didn’t think I could manage a blog and work a full-time job, but I am getting it done!

Today I want you to do me a favor. I want you to look for your blessing in disguise. Remember that horrible situation you experienced? What lesson did you learn? What did that experience teach you? I know I say this all the time, but everything works out exactly the way it should! Always trust the process.

If you recently lost your job, lost a significant other, lost yourself, lost hope or lost anything else with value, just know that nothing lasts forever. Everything and everyone has an expiration date.

Behind every loss is a buried treasure, waiting for you to discover it.

What is one lesson you learned within the past year?
